With minimalism, you have more room to pay attention to the very subtle details that have been put into the style. A simple change of fabric with the same color becomes prominent. Paintings are very high on that list. Here are some beautiful paintings from the 1800s that are flowerly, delicate and romantic. If you are as much of an art history nerd as I am, you can stare endlessly at the perfection of the paint strokes and the softness of the color palette.

This weekend I saw the most amazing FREE museum exhibit. It's Vochol-or the Volkswagon Beetle version of Hoichol art. Its an ancient Mexican art form consisting of beautiful patterns in beadwork. I thought it was jaw-dropping AMAZING. It used over 5 million tiny beads and took about a year's work. Now that's devotion. I absolutely love vintage Beetles too, so it made it 100000000000x more awesome for me. Why can't this be my car?
